Evelyn turned around around, making her way towards home. Then, before Evelyn had any time to react, she was roughly pushed on the ground, with some person staring down at her. Evelyn blinked when she saw the fangs, still so very confused but at the same time a bit horrified. “A vampire..? No... more like half vampire...” she thought, the haziness blanketing her mind, making what was happening in front of her seem so very unreal. Before Evelyn had a second to confirm, that the being that was holding her down was actually a vampire, the shadowy figure cursed, jumped off of her, and sprinted away.
Throughout the strange encounter and near-death experience, Evelyn had felt as if she had been watching it happen from afar. She had just so thoroughly convinced herself that what had happened, hadn't actually happened. That she had just fallen and was hallucinating from a lack of sleep, that was needed a whole lot more than she had previously thought. After all, if that had been a vampire, even if it was a half-vampire, it would have logically sucked her blood dry, not dashing away as if it had seen the most frightful thing in the world. “That had to be it,” she thought, nodding to herself.
So, having decided what had happened, Evelyn sat up, slapped herself lightly to make certain that she was awake, stood up, and continued making her way back to her house. And after walking barely a few meters, she noticed a small lump on the ground. It was a dead squirrel. Evelyn jumped back in shock, but being the curious being she was, slowly walked closer to the squirrel to get a closer look. And on closer inspection, Evelyn noticed two holes on the squirrel, how all the blood had been drained from the poor creature.
This new finding made Evelyn all the more jumpy. She began to walk fast, which turned to running, then to sprinting when she thought she heard someone following her. But, it was far too late, and Evelyn knew it even in her tired state. The being or even beings that had been tailing her, was now very well where she was at. So, she immediately stopped. She sighed, sending a short prayer to the god(s) that she would not die, and feeling better that she hadn't been attacked right then and there. “Hello...?” she began, beginning to accept her fate. It couldn't be too bad, she'd get to meet her parents in heaven, right? But what about Nathaniel? Evelyn shook her head, “I can't think about that now...” she thought, breathing deeply, her sleepiness going away, getting her resolve together. “May I ask what it is that you want?” she asked, her voice unwavering, as she turned around to face her pursuers.
