"Eclectic" : The term derives from the Greek word "eklektikos" meaning "selecting." .

To select from different sources what seems to be the best or the most desirable features.

In psychology, eclectic refers to selecting, combining, and using different techniques from various theories in psychotherapy (talk therapy).

Psychology is the study and profession concerning behavior and the related functions and processes of both the mind and body, in human and non-human animals.

Eclecticism is a philosophical approach is that it neither holds a rigid paradigm set of assumptions or conclusions.
It creates multiple theories to gain insight into the phenomenon.
Or applies only certain theories in certain cases.

Eclecticism in art is merging and mixing of different styles or "borrowing " elements of one artistic direction in the "othe"r directions.

Most of today's art is considered to be eclectic.

Is not every human being "eclectic " and "an eclectic " will be?

Informal use of the word eclectic and derivations is most commonly taken to mean "having tastes which do not coincide with one another" such as viewing two nearly identical pieces of art and considering one to be absolute beauty while the other is ugly trash due to only those slight differences. It is also used as synonymous with having strange tastes at all, generally euphemistically refering to anyone with said strange tastes but who one does not wish to insult.

For the scholarly definition, people could be said to have varying degrees of eclecticism which I would describe as being directly proportional to how long a description of their motivations would be. Someone who determines all actions solely by what is popular would not be considered very eclectic for example.
