GFXer's Corner

Well, that's true, but sometimes using a stock is difficult too.

I'm not too sure how to solve this. One way would be to have a "sub-vote" along with the main votes for the next SOTW, on whether you'd prefer it to be stock-based or render-based. So, for example, if I gave 7 options, people would vote, and at the same time state whether they wanted to use stocks or renders only, and the majority would win.

I'm afraid that restricting entries to either stocks or renders makes it harder for GFXers to express themselves through their sigs.
The problem is, big sigs take more attention from the voters and sometimes the smaller ones are ignored. At least that's what I think, especially when the size difference is more than 200%.

And I still say that using stocks is an "easy mode." You will understand when you see Aker's entry.
Rawr i did add some of my own touch in emmie! :><:

Hmm, another way might be for the entrants to include the original stock in their image if they submit a stock-based signature. I'll post it along with the sigs on the voting thread so people can compare and see how much the GFXer has done.

That is something I often miss when there's a competion, it's hard to tell what have been done, especially with a stock. That's why I usually try to include it when I update my gallery so people can tell what have been done :3

Rawr, I also find this compromise appealing. You should do something like that starting from SotW #3. As for sizes, anything near 500x200 is already a banner and the current SotW has at least 3 banner sized entries.

I really like the idea about posting original picture along with the Sig. and also the thing about majority thing is good too :) Really nice ideas here ! =]

Rawr, I meant, if the limit could be reduced?Just compare those huge 500x200 banners with a 350x120 signatures, and you will see the huge difference.

o_O for SOTW 2 onwards or?

no, 500x200 was the max size limit for all signatures. thats one of the rules i think.

@Emeralda... i dont really like the idea of putting a furthur limit on max sig sizes, i think 200x500 gives ppl room to work with, anything smaller kinda limits what you can do to the tag....

Just picked a random siggy and checked the image info and Haddy's 400X200 seems perfect to me ^__^ Or, around there is fine ^__^

That's very true though, how some people like putting lots of things in their siggies and they need room to do it ^^ Whereas, someone who doesn't doesn't really need all that room ^__^ I guess we can always ask for people to try to make their siggies a bit smaller xD? It may work and maybe a desired size can be agreed on ^^

Although, I still like 250 (or so) for height for pop outs ^^ xD Hmm, could tell people if they do have tall sigs to not put in alot of additional stuff in their siggies. I usually just have my siggy, credit to anyone who may have made it for me, and award icons (if available like on SSA) ^^

It's true that if someone makes a sig that is a lot smaller than someone else's it might be overlooked... But still the size helps to make the sig special, some sigs need to be bigger than others, some smaller.... personally, I can't work with sigs that are wide but the height is very high, lol. I used to do 500x200, but then 400x200 is a lot easier for me to work with now-a-days....
