Servant Assassin - Hermes

#1
OOC: I know someone else is also applying for assassin, but it is the only thing that fits Hermes, and I really want him.

Class : Assassin

Age(Appear to be): 24

True Identity : Hermes, though his other names are Mercury, Thoth, and The Sandman

Appearence : Hermes is a very athletic figure. He is thin and well toned without being overly muscular. His skin is light tan and lacks any scars of any kind. He is a handsome man with a strong jaw and good features. His eyes are a clear blue that often seem far off as if he is not paying attention to what is going on around him. His hair is short and blond and tends to be matted down on his head in a manner that he looks like he has perpetual hat hair.

His clothing tends to change depending on what exactly he is out doing. His traditional clothes, and the ones he wore upon being summoned were made of the greek style of dress. He wore no shirt and a simple brown skirt on. The skirt was made of small strips of leather all sewn together. He wore a winged petasus (greek sun hat) upon his head and talaria (winged sandals) upon his feet.

Once he has become accustom to the world, Hermes will where a very normal style of dress. His shirt will be a simple white t-shirt, and he will wear a pair of loose fitting black exercise pants. On his feet will be a normal pair of sandals and he changes between wearing no hat, and a simple baseball cap on his head. All in all he looks like an ordinary person and not like a servant.

Personality : Hermes is a very tricky individual. From the moment he was born, he was a thief. He is cunning and always waits for the right moment to do anything. He likes to formulate plans and put them into action, but if something goes wrong he simply walks away from them and begins setting up his next plan. He is a very charismatic individual and likes to use that to gain peoples trust. He will help a person apparently without reason, but in truth he hopes to one day benefit from it. He uses people and has no regrets about doing so. He loves forming alliances to strengthen himself, but has no qualms about stabbing them in the back if it seems beneficial.

Regardless of Hermes' overall dark agenda, he is a very playful person. He likes to make jokes and loves playing pranks. These are almost always entirely at others expense, but he just sees it as entertainment. Hermes loves to laugh and does whatever he feels like. He is also a musician and is often found strumming on his lyre when he has nothing else to do.

History/Past : Hermes was born to Maia, daughter of Atlas. Maia was the eldest of the seven Pleiades. The Pleiades were nymphs that trained under Artemis. She was the shyest of Atlas' seven daughters and avoided much contact with the Gods. Under the cover of night, Zeus came upon Maia in a cave and begot Hermes upon her. Soon Hermes was born.

From the moment of birth, Hermes was a thief. He developed quickly and the very night he was born, ran off into the night. He came upon Apollo's cattle and his first instinct was to steal them. He came up with an extremely clever plan, and stole fifty of them. He padded their feet to muffle the noise, and then drove them backwards to confuse any pursuit. He made his way to the Alpheios River and then stopped. Their he preformed a ritual sacrifice to the gods. To do so, he had to learn to invent fire on his own, once he had, he chose two cattle and separated them each into six pieces. Each piece was for one of the eleven Olympians, with the last piece for himself. Once finished, he returned back to his home.

Outside of his home he found a tortoise and took it inside with him. He then proceeded to invent the first lyre, using the tortoise shell as a base and strips of cattle hide as the strings. He then spent the day playing the instrument. When Apollo found him later that day, Hermes was still sitting there playing the lyre.

Apollo was furious and ignored Hermes lies about his innocence. The two squabbled for a long while with no agreement in sight, until finally Zeus came down and settled it. Hermes had to give the lyre to Apollo to appease his half brother.

Hermes was not originally the messenger God, but took that position from the rainbow goddess Isis. He used his trickery and through his connection to Zeus took the role for himself. Zeus bestowed his winged sandals and hat to him, and at a later date helped him trade a flute to Apollo for his herald staff the Kerykeion. Once he became a messenger he recieved many titles, one of which was bringer of dreams for he was the one who bestowed sleep and dreams onto mortals. He was also one of the few Gods able to pass into the underworld. With his winged sandals, Hermes is the fastest of all of the Gods.

Their are many stories in which Hermes helped others, but in each of these stories he was told to do so or was doing it in order to help Zeus, the only person he was loyal to. He helped Perseus slay Medusa by providing him with different artifacts. He also saved Io a nymph by lulling a giant to sleep and then beheading it with a crescent shaped sword. Some of his other good deeds are not necessarily good. He taught his disciples how to be thieves, and protected thieves that prayed to him.

This will be Hermes first time taking part in the Holy Grail War. He has never chosen to take part before because he does not see himself as a fighter. Yet he has decided that he has the abilities necessary to come out victorious and feels he can trick others to do his bidding for him.

Hermes was also the guide to the underworld he was the one who took people to and from the underworld. He was also a god of athletes and as such was incredibly athletic. He is best at fighting with his hands though, which is why he created the sport of boxing. His last claim is that he was considered the God of luck and often found himself in a lucky situation.

Noble Phantasm:
Talaria

Rank: A++

Type: Ability Enhancers

Talaria are Hermes winged sandals. His sandals are in the greek style with straps tying them to his feet. They are made of an imperishable gold that let the user move at incredible speeds. Wings are also attached on either side of the sandals allowing the user to fly. He recieved the Talaria from his father Zeus so that he could become the messenger God and travel between the mortal world and that of the Gods. The Talaria are very easy to activate and just require Hermes to wish them into existence. The sandals he usually wears disappear revealing his golden sandals strapped upon his feet.

The Talaria grant Hermes even greater movement speed. To those without very strong sight, he becomes nothing but a blur in their vision. This allows him to move in and out of battle at a whim and makes it very difficult to strike him.

The Talaria has one other ability, which must be activated through the use of mana. Using the Talaria, Hermes is able to travel from this world into the next in order to retrieve lost souls. This could be to bring a recently deceased human back to life. This must be used within a few hours of the beings death because he is only able to bring people back if they have not yet been ferried across the river. This ability takes a lot out of Hermes and drains him of nearly all of his remaining mana. He would likely be unable to fight for days after using this.

Kerykeion

Rank: B+

Type: Staff

The Kerykeion is Hermes heralds staff. It is a simple staff that is adorned with two serpents intertwined up it and a pair of wings on the top. Hermes received this staff through a trade with his brother Apollo. Hermes traded a flute he had made with his half-brother in order to receive the staff. His father Zeus helped make the trade possible. The Kerykeion is more then just a symbol for Hermes. The staff originated in the story of Tiresias where he tried to separate two snakes with his staff, he was immediately transformed into a woman and remained that way for seven years until he was able to repeat the incident. Since then the sign of the Kerykeion or caduceus has been used by many, and is often identified with medicine.

In Hermes hands, the staff has a couple of different abilities. The most important of those abilities, is its ability to transform other beings into snakes. This ability can not be used on other servants, but he can use it on himself and on masters. In his case he can return to his human form whenever he wishes, but for others he must return them to their original form. He is also able to use it in a very limited way for healing.

Tortoise Lyre

Rank: C

Type: Instrument

The tortoise lyre was created by Hermes himself the second day of his life. It was made from a tortoise shell and strips of hide from Apollo's cattle. The Lyre was the first of its kind, with seven strings, each one representing one of the seven muses. The tortoise lyre allows Hermes to put people to sleep with his music.

Weaknesses: Hermes doesn’t like fighting or direct confrontation. While he is an amazing boxer, fighting armed opponents is not very easy for him. Believes in himself completely and can overlook things because he gets cocky.

Likes: Music, pranks, thievery, all sports

Dislikes: Fighting, people who look down on him

But Hermes doesn't ride anything <.<. Not in a single myth does he ride anything, cause everything is related to his shoes. The way he acts is that of a thief, a person who moves in the shadows.

The other person applying for assassin hasn't been accepted and their character is not at all correct for a Fate stay night character. Since they aren't accepted I thought it would be okay to apply for it.

Charisma : D

Yeah i just copied all the traits and pasted them. I thought their was probably a list somewhere but I didn't know where it was so was getting them from other peoples profiles. I can change them though, if necessary. To be honest I didn't even actually read the description on Charisma... I just knew Hermes was a charismatic individual.

As for his Charisma, it is more of a normal charisma. People instinctively like him and he is good at talking people into things and making them believe what he has to say.

Edited charisma, independant action, and divinities descriptions.

Finally I saw somebody who likes Eternal Arms Mastery.. so touch..

By the way, Shinamaru, there's alot of errors in your character profile. He becomes a "her", Assassin becomes an Archer.
