What game(s) drew you into your favorite genre?

I was thinking of making this a post for what game drew people into RPGs but not everyone likes RPGs so I thought I'd make this try to cover all the genres. Just say what the genre it is and what game got you hooked on that genre. I'll start.

For me, my favorite Genre is the RPG, other genres come close but can't quite compare in my eye.
The games that got me into the genre are the games Shining Force 2 for Sega Genesis (Tactical /RPG) and Wild Arms for the PS1 clinched that. It wasn't till after that I was introduced to FF7.

I have two favorite genre which are the RPG and Strategy type game. what started me on the RPG was pokemon, lol FF sealed the deal on that category tho. as for strategy, it was the advanced wars and fire emblem series that drew me in. ive followed those two franchises pretty well at least in terms of release in the US.

Maple Story ~ Online Gaming

Counter-Strike ~ FPS

SSBM ~ Multi player Action

Dynasty Warriors ~ Hack and Slash!

FPS: Counter-Strike
RTS: C&C:Red Alert 2 or StarCraft
Third person shooter: Hitman 2 Silent Assassin
Free roam: GTA 2
RPG: Pokemon
Stealth: Hitman 2 Silent Assassin
Fighting: Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat 2
Platform: Megaman or Sonic the Hedgehog
Racing: Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit
Hack and slash: Dynasty Warriors

But these days I mostly play FPS, third person shooter, free roam, fighting or stealth games.

Most definitely Final Fantasy 7 and Legend of Dragoon. Those 2 dragged me into the RPG genre violently. After that I played a lot of RPG's. But ever since Final Fantasy X-2 I haven't played many RPG's. FFX12 was a let down as well.

i have two fav genre.
Silver, a pretty old game that no one heard of, at least not those who i asked, drew me into adventure, but i lost the game when my computer broke, and now i'm forever haunted by it, cause i didn't get to finish it :(
and Heroes III drew me into strategy. i've been playing it for few years now ^^
as for the other genres, i like them, but not as much ^^

Favorite Genres: FPS, RPG, Action/Adventure
FPS: Halo CE started it, multiplayer for Halo 2 contributed, Resistance confirmed my love for the genre
RPG: Final Fantasy 7. nuff said
Action/Adventure: God of War 2 (the first didn't originally sell me even though I liked it)
