Burying the Dead (Tragic Poem)

Burying the Dead
The skies are open after it wept for so long
And the wind started to sing its sad song
I hold the earth wet and chilly to the bone
I am waiting and watching here all alone
The parade of memories started to flash
My heart race and fear the pending crash
Suddenly your voice came into my head
And it struck me painfully for I am dead
You said that I should carry this weight
For the coming end, I would have to wait
As you release another rain in your eyes
You know what you hold is here that lies
I can’t cry nor can I reach your pretty face
All I have for now are your past embrace
Your mind is torn like your letter of regret
So you must let me go without a single fret
My name has been etched and cast in stone
I have to find my own way as I try to atone
I will stay here until the last autumn leaf falls
Until the lands are silent with crumbled walls
I will wait for you as I claim eternity in grief
For what we have before was blissfully brief
I will count the days and years that may pass
Until I can hold your hand once again at last
