1.This forum will serve the purpose for promoting controversial, debatable and/or thought provoking topics where in-depth discussion and analysis is a necessity.



2. Forum topics are flexible and they can be discussions of religion/supernatural, political view, philosophy, science, or any other thoughts - pertaining to sensitive/debatable materials such as God, abortion, war etc. Please do understand that since this forum promote in-depth discussion and analysis, therefore users are encouraged to be mindful prior to creating a thread or making a post.



3. AVOID FLAMING/TROLLING/CUSSING MEMBERS.



4. Avoid one-liner, necroposting or violating the general rules and guidelines of the main forum.



5. All users are encouraged to participate with an open mind.

HIC SUNT LEONES

Here are lions, as the forum description shows, is a section for serious discussions, pertaining to matter concerning; science, philosophy, religion and other related subjects. While every users are free to discuss any themes they wishes for, the real purpose of this forum will be to highlight the most interesting topics in the mind of many from time to time, that could be contested in a coherent and well structured debates. In another words, HSL forum is a breeding ground for HSD's debate competition.



HSL Guidelines and Regulations



Users are encouraged to debate and discuss matter to their heart content, create a healthy form of rivalries, discover popular topics that are of great interest to the majority of users, and to train oneself as preparation for claiming the Order Of the Dragon and Lion Crests. As customary, avoid flaming, trolling, cussing, one-liner, necroposting or violating the general rules and guidelines of the main forum - other than these basic reminders, one is unfettered to explore the lion's den.

Here be dragons, denotes the start of a coherent and well structured debate competition that is open for all users. As in any other competitions, there are several guidelines and regulations that needs to be followed in order for it to run successfully. They are not hard to comply and exist solely to ensure that the competition flow as smooth as possible.



HSD Guidelines and Regulations



1. All the main forum rules and guidelines apply here.



2. HSD Thesis Recommendation thread is a thread which enlist the theses that users find most interesting to be debated upon in the competition. HSD Thesis Voting thread is a thread where users votes for the most interesting thesis that should be debated upon in the competition.

Feel free to bring forward any relevant thesis that is within the scope of TI. Remember to always be specific in your thesis and avoid any form of vague elaboration. Also, make sure that your thesis is debatable on both sides of the issue, a one sided debate can't be called a debate to begin with.

Thesis submissions and voting will last for one week (subject to changes, depending on situation) and the majority votes will determine the thesis of the debate competition. Voting for your own entry is allowed.



3. HSD Propositions Nomination thread is a thread which enlist the propositions (they are similar to opening posts) entries submitted by users. HSD Propositions Voting thread is a thread where users votes for the most interesting propositions on both sides of the issue.

These two threads will be up automatically at the closure of HSD Thesis Recommendation and HSD Thesis Voting threads. Users are given one week (subject to changes, depending on situation) to submit their propositions for any side they choose to be on, and vote for the best propositions entries (on both sides of the issue) that they think should square off against each other. Voting for your own entry is allowed.



4. HSD Debate Entries thread is a thread where the two chosen participants will debate each other. HSD Debate Voting thread is a thread where critics (read: users) votes for the best debater. HSD Commentary Entries thread is a thread where critics can express their own opinions regarding the debate.

All three threads will be up automatically at the closure of HSD Propositions Nomination and HSD Propositions Voting threads. The debate, voting and commentaries will be held simultaneously for one week (subject to changes, depending on situation) and critics are free to change their voting decisions during the said time frame. Voting for yourself is allowed.

Debate participants are prohibited from posting in HSD Commentary Entries thread, this is to ensure that they will not become sidetracked and ended up debating the critics instead of their opponent. However, they are free to reply critics arguments within their own refutation for each other as a form of supplementary materials (not as the main points).

When casting your vote, always compare both participants ability to argue convincingly and their usage of legitimate sources to support their claims. Do not compare their arguments with yours but limit it only between them. Your personal opinion of their debate and your true position can be elaborated in HSD Commentary Entries thread which exist specifically to cater for your passionate rants.

Example:

A (pro life) and B (pro choice) debates the legitimacy of Abortion. You are personally pro life, yet A's arguments are weaker than B even though you think B is wrong and you can refute B if you are in A's position. The correct action to do here is to cast your vote for B based upon his debating skill, but refute his argument fully in HSD Commentary Entries thread.



5. The winner of the debate will be announced at the end of each competition cycle and are eligible to claim the Order of the Dragon Crest plus 1,000 worth of Gil.

On the same occasion, TI Moderator(s) will also arbitrarily choose and announce the best critic, of whom are eligible to claim the Order of the Lion Crest plus 1,000 worth of Gil.

Sleipnir is the best, refer to our TI chess club community where players learn, discuss, and compete with one another as any passionate chess player would obviously be. In order to improve our skills, tournaments will be held regularly along with specific rewards and guidelines that mainly aims to assure a healthy competition.



SEB Guidelines and Regulations



1. SEB forum will serve as a place where we all can learn and discuss our games with fellow users, or to invite others for a play.



2. Each user is allowed only one thread inside SEB for discussions of all their games, this is solely to ensure an easier threads organization.



3. For the actual chess game, please visit and play in Chesscube.com (the website is mostly free of charges).



4. Chesscube.com has the excellent function of copying your chess game into PGN format. Use this function to copy your game and import it to SEB forum - if you wanted to publish your game.

6. All official tournament's matches will take place in Chesscube.com. Please familiarize yourself with the website first before entering the tournament, this is to ensure that no technical problems will arise during matches.



7. Tournament's format will vary from one to another, be sure to read the detailed elaborations before entering them.



8. Each tournament will offer players various amount of Gil and other rewards, however - SEB Norms and Crests can only be obtained through matches points collected and accumulated from entering official tournaments. Each match victory will give a player 1 point, 0.5 point for draw, and 0 point for lost. The requirement for the Norms and Crests are as follow;

10-19.5 points, Norm: SEB First Master (SEB FM), Crest:

20-39.5 points, Norm: SEB Intermediate Master (SEB IM), Crest:

40-59.5 points, Norm: SEB Advance Master (SEB AM), Crest:

60-79.5 points, Norm: SEB Exceptional Master (SEB EM), Crest:

80-99.5 points, Norm: SEB Grand Master (SEB GM), Crest:

100 points and above, Norm: SEB Super GM (SEB SGM), Crest:
