The first and second series of Digimon were actually quite good... the storyline went pretty deep with the characterization. But then the English dub cut out quite a lot of the deeper, darker stuff so... -_-

Out of the older generation games, I liked Final Fantasy Tactics... The battles were long, and it required a lot of strategy just to get through each battle, but I like games like that so it's fine with me. Another one would be the Fire Emblem games, cuz those require a lot of thinking too...

The first series of Naruto was okay, but the second series gets REALLY good. Same with Bleach, the arrancar arc is getting quite interesting, even if the story is moving really slowly right now. And I think manga is better than the anime, even if it's only because I get to see what happens...

If we're talking about just the games, I would go for the DS. It has a ton of great games, especially if you import all the nice Japanese games that have little chances of coming out in English. Plus it's portable, so it's nice to bring along to play wherever and whenever. If we're looking at...
